The House of Representatives committee on Ethics and Privileges headed
by Nicholas Ossai Ossai has pledged to be fair and just to all parties
involved in the budget padding investigation. The investigation would be
starting tomorrow(Friday) at the National Assembly Complex by 9am.
The fine lawmaker said the investigation would be open to all Nigerians
who wish to come to the National Assembly to witness the hearing.
"The committee will do justice to the matter and it is not going to be a secret proceeding" Ossai said.
He also dismissed insinuations making the round that he might not be
fair to Jibril hence he was appointed by the Speaker Dogora who
is also a party in the case as alleged.
''It is not true that my committee would be bias because for those of you
who know me, I stand for truth and honesty. Infact, i was not appointed
by anybody, i was selected by the "Selection Committee" which Dogara was
also part of so the issue of taking side does not arise.
It will be recalled that the House of Representatives adopted a motion
yesterday for the embattled formal chairman Appropriation, Jibril
Abdumumini to be suspended for the wild allegations he made against the
Speaker and three others over budget padding. Though, he also accused
the House of Representatives of frivolous expenditure.
