The Wife of the Senate President, Mrs. Toyin Saraki, on Wednesday
commended the Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, for
implementing 35 per cent Affirmative Action in favour of women in
appointments into political and public service positions of leadership
in the state.
Mrs. Saraki in a statement in Abuja, specifically noted the number of
women recently appointed Chairpersons into the Transition Implementation
Councils (TIC) in the 16 Local Government Areas in Kwara State.
He specifically congratulated the newly appointed women, individually and collectively, into the TIC.
“I congratulate our newly appointed women, and wish them every success
in this new public assignment and pray that their recognised skills of
diligence, dedication and strong commitments to accountability and
transparency will be brought to bare on this new assignment," Mrs.
Saraki stated.
The newly-appointed Chairpersons of the TIC were sworn-in on Tuesday at
the Government House, Ilorin and shall subsequently swear-in newly
appointed Supervisory Councillors in their respective Local Government
Areas.
