STILL ON NASSLAF CRISIS AS COMRADE SAM MELAYE SPEAKS

The raging conflict within the National Assembly Legislative Aides Forum appears far from over. The Forum appears to be fractionized with a dual head.  Sam Melaye and Darlington Udeh are both claiming to have been duly elected as the true representatives of the forum. It is however discernible that two cannot be legitimately elected. The question that all must ask is who is the legitimately elected and who is the usurper?

The forum has amongst its member’s persons with diverse academic background and varying degree of exposure and experience which ought to have come in handy in the circumstances but unfortunately that is not the case. As the conflict intensifies, who will bail the cat? We spoke with both contenders and here is Comrade Sam Melaye’s view.   You can read About the Accusation Made Against Sen. Dino Melaye Here

Hallowmace had an Exclusive interview with Comrade Sam Melaye And He had This to say

HallowMace: What is the contention all about?
Sam Melaye:  for me basically, there is no dispute at all. A lot of leaders are not prepared for the task of governance which accounts for the dismal performance in the past and coming back to the issue at hand, during the 6th Assembly, I had the intention of contesting for the legislative Aides Forum Chairman but was prevailed upon to shelf my ambition which I graciously did when I was confronted with the fact that, to do so, one must do so from the Senate.
I had to step down then and while in the Senate, long before other contestants realized what was at stake, I had hit the ground running, canvassing and campaigning openly with a dynamic team and with an action plan to take the Forum to greater heights. I presented my functional programme to the people and was accepted. Most of these emergence contestants are not known and they are only desperate knowing that they can’t win. This much they know.  While they were waiting, I started my campaigns and was rewarded by the Electoral College with absolute victory. My intentions were advertised and were well received by all and sundry.

HallowMace: If you were validly elected, Why the tussle?
Sam Melaye: What happened was that a few individuals were disgruntled with the outcome of the election and went about a parallel and illegal convention. But you have to be aware that anything that has original may have counterfeits. The genesis was that close to seven groups were initially going to meet the management that they were the authentic leadership of the organization until the management stepped in to create some level of sanity.
That was what informed a determined effort by management to help us put our house in order.

HallowMace: The factional Chairman maintains that he is the authentic
Sam Melaye: I maintain that there is nothing like a factional chairman. We had our congress and the outcome is clear to all our members and it was witnessed by management. The Clerk, National Assembly set-up a caretaker committee to pilot the affairs of our organization until the conduct of the election. The CNA stated he was tired of relating with all manner of factional executives and mandated us to quickly put our house in order and which we have done. The evidence of my victory is well documented. Ask the so-called factional chairman, where they met to conduct their congress and if management is aware of their charade.

HallowMace: Having spoken for this long, one cannot but have this feeling that there is no smoke without fire-what is this crisis all about?
Sam Melaye: for me, there is no crisis anywhere. I insist, there is no crisis. Imagine the contrived crisis in the National Assembly against the Senate President, does that mean he has ceased to be the SP? I actually got a letter of congratulation from the office of the Senate President and that has put a lie to the charade that the Darlington Udeh executive is peddling. They are outlaws and would be so treated.
HallowMace: what are your programmes for NASSLAF?
Sam Melaye: Service. I would serve the people with the best of my abilities and would expose them to international best practices and capacity trainings for enhanced performance.

HallowMace: some people maintain that your insistence is born out of sheer ambition that you want to use the office as a stepping stone to the House of Representatives?
Sam Melaye: basically, it is only God that knows tomorrow, am concerned for the now. Some of the people who are causing division are now retracing their steps. There is no fear, they are welcomed to come join hands with us in breaking grounds of excellence.
Thank You.
