The green chamber yesterday unanimously took a decision to suspend the former chairman on Appropriation, Jibril Abdulmumin for 180 legislative days and also to tender a written apology to the House.

The House also recommended the following; that Jibril Abdulmumini be reprimanded in accordance with chapter 9(1) of the Code of Conduct for Members of the House of Representatives.
That as provided in Order six, Rule 1(4) of the standing orders, and chapter 9(2) of the Code  Conduct for Members of the House, the House by this resolution further regulates its procedure.
Similarly, in accordance with chapter 9(3) of the Code of Conduct for Members of the House, Jibril Abdulmumini should be barred from positions of responsibility in the House until the end of  the 8th Assembly.

Though, the suspension was widely accepted by the lawmakers who were present at the time of deliberation of the report. One Member who vehemently opposed the suspension, Mohammed Kauzare said the House could have pursued peace rather than suspend Jibril which he said could cause doom in the House and sow seed of discord.
"I pleaded with my colleagues, the Minority Leader, Leo Ogor, the Whip, Ado Dogowa and the Speaker Yakubu Dogara to forgive Jibril and let peace reign but my plea was ignored, so now they should be ready for the beans that will spill", Kazaure said.

Another lawmaker, Henry Archibong gave kudos to the committee on Ethics and Privileges headed by Nicholas Ossai whom he said were fair, honest and just in their investigation and the recommendations were just perfect.
According to Archibong, Jibril has shown disrespect to the institution of National Assembly. He breached the privileges of the House.

Recall that the House of Representatives had on Wednesday the 22 of September, 2016 mandated the committee on Ethics and Privileges to look into allegations of misconduct.
Emmanuel Oker-Jev raised a motion accusing the embattled former Chairman on Approriation, Jibril Abdulmumini of wrongly accusing 3 principal officers, the Speaker and the the entire House of swimming in corruption.
Oker-Jev said, the allegations borders on issues of integrity and violation of laws and norms of the budgetary process.
He described the accusations as a calculated Campaign of calumny, denigration of the House and publication of false information.
