The Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Education has promised to facilitate the completion of some abandoned projects embarked upon by the state government at the Delta State University, Delsu, Abraka.

The Chairman of the committee, Hon Daniel Mayuku who made the promise when he led other members on a tour of facilities at the campus three of the university, particularly assured that the committee would ensure that the multi- million naira Senate Building of the University is completed within the next one year.

The lawmakers who were conducted around the facilities by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Victor Peretomode, had expressed reservations over the non completion of the senate building project many years after the award.

The education committee chairman,Hon Daniel Mayuku said the contractor handling the Senate building project must be made to return to site to complete it without further delay.

Speaking immediately after inspecting some of the completed, ongoing and abandoned projects in the campus three of the university, the Lawmaker noted that most of the projects that are left to be completed are key to the development of the institution.

He said the inspection tour has exposed the committee to the state of infrastructure at Delsu and commended the Vice Chancellor, Prof Victor Peretomode and his team for the development that have taken place in the institution within a short period of time.

Hon Mayuku pointed out that the completion, equipping and commissioning of a world class gymnasium and other completed projects, including internal roads, pedestrians walk ways, lecture halls and administrative buildings with internally generated revenue was worthy of emulation.

While emphasizing the need for greater commitment by the state government in the development of the university, Hon Mayuku expressed appreciation to some development partners, particularly the Tertiary Education Trust Fund and the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, for the good number of projects executed in the institution.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof Victor Peretomode had told the committee members that completion of the some key projects embarked upon in the institution by the state government would further promote academic activities in the university.

Prof Peretomode said steps have been taken to get the NDDC complete the Indoor Sports Hall and the second hostel projects as well as opening talks with TET fund management for more projects in the institution.

The Vice Chancellor assured the committee of prudent application of internally generated revenue to develop the university.

Prof Peretomode thanked the lawmakers for the visit.
