Hon Igbuya while addressing the legislators at the resumed plenary for
the second session of the sixth Delta State House of Assembly, said such
bills should be capable of encouraging peace, unity and stability in
the state.
Rt Hon Monday Igbuya urged his colleagues to ensure that the existing
cooperation among the arms of government is maintained and never to
allow critics to cause distractions in the house.
He said the people are yearning for a purposeful legislature, affirming
the unwavering commitment of sixth Delta State House of Assembly to the
actualization of great delta.
The Speaker maintained that the house must continue to improve
governance in the state as well as business and livelihood of Deltans,
stressing the need for the members to strive at all times to give their
constituents good and quality representation.
Hon Igbuya stated that the symbolic relationship between the house and
the state governor must be maintained to ensure that more dividends of
democracy come to the people.
Speaking in retrospect, the Speaker said the house received a total of
twenty three bills in the first session of the sixth assembly, noting
that of the number, fourteen were passed and signed into law.
He stated that there are pending bills that need urgent attention and charged members to expedite action on them.
Hon Igbuya reminded all that the primary assignment of the house is to
project the will of the various constituencies and make laws that would
endanger good governance in response to the feelings of the people.
