The National Assembly Member representing Owo/Ose federal constituency of Ondo,Hon. Olabode Ayorinde has stated that he does not find anything wrong with the planned protest by Mr. Innocent Idibia popularly known as 2baba.
Hon. Ayorinde said Nigeria is a free society and not a banana republic so everybody should be allowed to air their feelings. "It is a free society we are not in a banana republic so everyone can express his opinion", Ayorinde stated.
Speaking further, he said the protest is not out of place people should rather see it as a wake up call for our government. "Nigerians are presently going through a lot though it is not the fault of the current administration but it is good that people are coming out to protest".
Similarly, Ayorinde also reacted to the statement made by the formal president of Nigeria, chief Olusegun Obasenjo concerning an Igbo presidency. "I don't think the call for an Igbo presidency now is premature, six years is a short time to prepare for presidency".
While buttressing his point, the lawmaker said from what he can make of chief Obasenjo's statement; "he never said it should go to the Igbos just now but there is nothing wrong if it goes to the Igbos".
"I think they deserve that baba support as well and don't forget that baba is highly experienced so if an igbo presidency will douse the agitation from that region why not", Ayorinde reechoed.
Hon. Ayorinde who is also the chairman ad-hoc committee on Economic Recession which was recently constituted by the House of Representatives to look into issues of poverty, hunger and high prices of commodities etc.
According to him, "this came by way of a motion and the house resolved to interface with relevant agencies of federal government that are responsible for revenue generation to examine their policies to ensure that the economy does not go into depression".
