REQUEST TO INVESTIGATE THE INTIMIDATION, HARASSMENT, THREATS AND OTHER CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES OF THE TRIO OF SAM MELAYE, BARR. C.J. OSMAN AND HON. MAHMUD ABDULKADIR IN THE LEADERSHIP CRISES OF NASSLAF

We write to draw your attention to the crises brewing in National Assembly and being stoked by Messrs SAM MELAYE, HON. MAHMUD ABDULKADIR, BARR. C.J OSMAN and some other actors.

We are constrained to make this appeal to you because Mr. Sam Melaye is leveraging on his brother, Senator Dino Melaye’s position as Chairman, Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory to use the NASS Division and FCT Police Command and other security agencies to intimidate, harass, threaten and arrest our duly elected Chairman and members of his executive as well as other aides.  We are afraid that there may be serious break down of law and order in the National Assembly precinct if not addressed by your good offices.

We are a social political Forum that relates based on our job definition of being Legislative Aides to Legislators and we meet for peer review and sundry social, political and economic interest.  We were at no time created by the management of National Assembly.

We have hitherto conducted our elections during the 6th and 7th sessions of the National Assembly without rancour and in accordance with our Constitution.  We only became due-paying Forum in the 7th Assembly and as such, we were able to open bank account and acquire some assets for the Forum.

As it is the practice, we duly informed management of our intention to conduct elections into our Forum for the purposes of overseeing our affairs in the 8th National Assembly.  But to our utmost chagrin, our immediate past Chairman, now a member representing LAPAI/AGAIE Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives covertly connived with Barr. C.J Osman, the Secretary, Directorate of Corporate Services of NASS and their few stooge Legislative Aides went ahead to constitute a Caretaker Committee and attempting to foist it on the Forum against our Constitution and corporate will.

The said C.J. Osman is now inciting a minute section of Legislative Aides to intimidate, harass and threaten our duly elected Chairman and his executives, having ignored a written directive from the National Assembly Service Commission to refrain from meddling in the affairs of NASSLAF.

Also, security advisories and official correspondences by all stakeholders were ignored by the trio as they went ahead to declare Sam Melaye chairman of our Forum without being duly elected.  This was even when we had to their knowledge duly elected our leaders under the chairmanship of Com. Darlington Udeh.

Furthermore, Hon. Mahmud Abdulkadir has yet to account for his tenure in the 7th National Assembly as required by our Constitution and the spirit of accountability and probity.  He has been fraudulently and criminally running the bank account of our Forum in Enterprise Bank, National Assembly branch, (Account No. 2200093769), having fraudulently removed the other former signatories and their alert notices from the Bank mandate.  This is criminal as he had been sworn in as Honourable Member of the House of Representatives since June 2015.  Moreso, our Constitution mandates him to handover all NASSLAF properties to the Clerk of National Assembly at the end of the 7th Assembly in June 2015 as he ceased to be an aide at the end of the 7th Assembly.

We are therefore appealing to you to cause a proper investigation into our petition so as to fore-stall breach of public peace in the precinct of the National Assembly and protect our Chairman and members of his executive from further intimidation, harassment and threat by the trio and their powerful sponsors.

While looking forward to your anticipated intervention, kindly accept the assurances of our warm regards, please.

Yours faithfully
FOR: NASSLAF
