The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Monday Igbuya says
about fourteen bills are presently undergoing scrutiny at the committee
level in line with the legislative process of the House.
The Speaker who stated this during Wednesday's plenary session of the
house directed the Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of the committees to turn
in their reports on the bills before the expiration of two weeks.
The Speaker, Rt Hon Monday Igbuya said the bills for sometime now were
committed to the various standing committees for actions, saying that
there should be no further delay on them.
He listed some of the bills to include the Delta State Consumer Rights
Protection Agency Bill, Delta State Private Educational Institutions
Bill, Delta State Water Bill, Delta State Environmental Management
Agency Bill, Delta State Nomadic Cattle Rearing Control Bill and the
Delta State Steel Scrap Bill.
Others are the Delta State Special Offenses Courts bill, Delta State
Forestry Development Private Participant bill and the Delta State Hotels
and Restaurants bill as well as the Delta State Tenancy bill and the
Delta State Administrative of Criminal Justice bill among others.
Hon Igbuya urged members to turn in their reports to allow the house take the third reading of the bills.
The Speaker noted that the bills were geared towards the development of the state.
He stressed that the Delta State House of Assembly was committed in
making laws that would further enhance the development of the state and
provide the enabling environment for the private sector to thrive.
The house adjourned till Tuesday next week.
