Okowa in the letter to the House read at plenary by the Speaker, Mr Monday Igbuya, said he will resume office as governor of the state on July 21, 2016.

The letter entitled “Notice of Vacation” was unanimously adopted following a motion to that effect by the Majority Leader, Tim Owhefere.
The speaker, thereafter, explained that the letter was forwarded to the House on July 4, 2016 but could not take it at plenary due to the three days Eid-el-fitri public holidays declared by the Federal Government.
Igbuya said the explanation was necessary since the governor had since proceeded on the annual vacation to resume duty Thursday next week.
