Lawmakers Optimistic 2017 Budget will Take Nigeria Out of Recession

Rep. Mohammed Garba Gololo (APC-Bauchi) has expressed optimism that the 2017 budget as presented by President Muhamadu Buhari will take Nigeria out of its current woes.

Gololo said the level of implementation of the 2016 budget so far gives  him hope that things will get better in the year 2017.

"The implementation level of the 2016 budget is very commendable. During over-sight we discovered that most project were 80 to 90 percent completed.

Don't also forget that releases have not been totally made and I believe that before May 2017 which is the life span of the current budget, most of the projects must have been completed including our constituency projects", he stated.

Recall that the Nigerian President on wednesday, 14th December, presented the 2017 budget to the joint session of the National Assembly after several times of postponement.

The President Tagged the Appropriation Bill " Budget of  Economic Recovery and Growth". The budget according to Mr. President will focus on Agriculture and Manufacturing and infrastructural development of key areas like; Power, Rail and Roads.

The break down of the budget is as follows; Recurrent Expenditure 2.9trillion naira, Capital Expenditure is allocated 2.2trillion naira while 1.6trillion is proposed for Debt Servicing.
